Sleep Rocks, and No Sleep Does Not

Monday, February 27, 2017

Have you ever been so worn out that you are beyond 100% sure that you'll fall right to sleep the moment your head hits the pillow? That was me last night. So exhausted that I told the girls goodnight at 8:53 pm. Once I was in bed, my brain just. would. not. stop. I am stubborn (sometimes to a fault, ahem - last night) and I was sure I would doze off at any moment. Fast forward a few hours. Very minimal sleep.

I know we've all been there - and the lack of sleep slowly transforms itself to counting down the hours of sleep you could potentially reach if you feel asleep at x, y, or z time, which is totally depressing because then you think about what your day will look like with 3 hours...2 hours...or 1 hour of sleep. I totally did that! I think I finally fell asleep around 4:45 am, and my alarm went off at 5:30 am. Not. Ideal.

I looked pretty close to Crazy Eyes from OITNB when I woke the girls up this morning. Not even kidding. When the girls get home from school, I am going to show them a pic for comparison purposes (and hug their necks for letting me sleep in!). Thankfully I have a supportive principal and I used a sick day so I can actually be functional for tonight (the first of the last 8th grade moving to 9th grade events).

So here is what happened (embarrassed emoji). I forgot to use my oils before bed last night. Once I realized this (at 5:30 am), I immediately made use of lavender, Cedarwood, and Peace & Calming. Rubbed those on the bottoms of my feet, down the back of my neck, and on my writsts. And I finally slept like a baby for a total of 7 hours today.

The moral of the story?  A) I over-trusted my tired and I will never do that again! B) I know there are others out there who struggle with sleep, and I just want you to know you aren't along and there are natural options that can help you and your family! C) Today taught me my lesson! D) I have exactly zero worries at all about getting good rest tonight even after 7 hours of sleep today!

All I know is I will never forget to use my nighttime oils again. Ever!

Middle School Is Hard Work

Thursday, February 23, 2017

Middle school is hard work...for every single person involved in it. Kids, teachers, parents, and administrators will tell you this and add countless poignant stories of support! About a million times a day, I find myself questioning how my babies are in 6th and 8th grade. It just doesn't seem possible. I love my girls so very much, and I love nothing more than seeing them happy at school and at home. I love watching them do life: I love having a car full of girls on the way to a track meet. Or taking the girls to meet up with friends - be it youth group, studying, movies, volleyball practice, or FCA - I wouldn't change it for anything.

I also love my one on one time with each of them. They need that so much. Sisters are best friends and worst enemies...all in the span of a minute, an hour, a week, and a lifetime. I loved my time with Jordan after school today. We talked and we laughed and we sang songs on the radio...and then it was quiet.

After a long couple of days, I had Peace & Calming diffusing in my car because, quite frankly, I needed it. I think Jordan did, too. Love this girl to pieces...I can't wait to see where life takes her...and I am confident she's more than ready to pursue her path with a passion that can't be reckoned with! #luckyme

Sweetest Dreams

Sunday, February 19, 2017

We inhabit the same household with two middle school girls; however, one of us needs Stress Away, one of us {clearly} does not. One of us needs those pillows, on of us does not. T-minus 5 minutes and counting until the diffuser is filled with Peace & Calming, Lavender, Cedarwood, and sweet dreams...

Thieves Give-A-Way!

Saturday, February 11, 2017

Yesterday I woke up feeling awful - i was positive for strep throat (probably a side-effect of working in a school) and I asked for an antibiotic injection instead of pills because it works quicker and is out of my body quicker. Win, win! When I got home, I started diffusing Thieves and Purification and I diluted Peppermint to rub on my throat and neck which helped a ton with both pain and fever. Today I feel ridiculously better! My plan is to clean every surface of my house with Thieves Household Cleaner because it is non-toxic and will kill all the nasty germs still floating around before the girls get home tomorrow.

I am really bummed that I missed Jordan's birthday sleepover, but i didn't want to get anyone else sick. Thieves Household Cleaner is a favorite in our home. It's highly concentrated, so it honestly lasts forever. The girls and I use it on all surfaces! Because we love it so much and because we want to help everyone else else stay germ-free during this strep-cold-flu season, I'm giving away a free 14 oz bottle of Thieves Household Cleaner to everybody who orders a Premium Starter Kit from me in the month of February. Trust me - you and your family will love it, and it smells absolutely amazing!
